How to install Barrel Feet
- Empty or tilt the barrel or pot so you can lift one side safely.
- Place three feet evenly spaced around the base, under the outer edge.
- Lower the planter and check it sits level on all three feet.
Each foot is tested to 80 kg (176 lb) and lifts the planter 0.8 in (20 mm), so water drains away and air can move underneath.
How to install a Square Planter Liner
Fits: square planter boxes. Drainage holes are not pre-cut.
- Place the liner in the planter and press it loosely into the corners.
- Fold or trim any extra height.
- Cut drainage holes to match the planter's own holes.
- Fill with potting mix and plant.
Raise the planter on Corner Planter Feet so it can drain and dry underneath.
How to install Corner Planter Feet
Fits: square and rectangular planter boxes with flat sides and defined corners. Not for round or oval pots.
- Tilt or lift the empty planter box.
- Place one foot under each corner of the box.
- For permanent fixing, screw through the optional screw holes into the planter.
- For long rectangular planters, add a support under the middle.
The feet lift the planter 0.8 in (20 mm). Each foot is tested to 80 kg (176 lb).
How to install a Round Planter Liner
Sizes: Small for 15 to 16 inch and Medium for 17 to 18 inch internal diameter, up to 11 inches of soil. Measure the inside of the pot.
- Place the liner in the pot and shape it against the sides and base.
- Cut drainage holes to line up with the pot's own holes.
- Fill with potting mix to no more than 11 inches deep, then plant.
Finish with a wool mulch mat on top to help hold moisture. Read the full guide: How to line a round pot or planter.
Installation questions
Do I need to drill my barrel?
Only for the Planter Kit and Barrel Liner Kit, which use drain tubes. Drill three 1 3/16 inch (30 mm) holes in the base. With a Liner Bag on its own, cut drainage holes in the liner to match the holes already in your barrel.
Are drainage holes pre-cut in the liners?
No. None of the OAKENZ liners have pre-cut holes, so you can line them up with the holes in your planter.
Can I use a liner as a pond liner?
No. The liners are designed for planting with drainage, not for holding water.
Which feet do I need?
Barrel Feet for round barrels and large round pots, three per planter. Corner Planter Feet for square and rectangular planter boxes, one per corner.
